LED grow light

Here is the LED grow light in action. I am not sure if it will work as good as the florescent grow lights but it sure uses a lot less power.

Seed starting

We will be staring our tomato and pepper seeds (a little late).

Here is the whole of our "seed bank"

Trays filled with seed starting mix

Seeds planted and soaking up water. Next year the seed mix needs to have less peat moss as it does not soak up water very well.

New Garden

This is the beginning of the "new" garden. We should have some time this year to actually take care of a garden. We were consumed with house repairs last year and the "old" garden suffered. The location of the garden 2.0 will be in part the location of the garden of the previous owner. The existing garden consists of a bed roughly 2 foot by 25 feet at the back of the garage, two slightly raised beds 8x12 behind that and a 5x20 bed at the back of the yard. The previous garden has been here for a long time the exact amount of time I am not sure but as the beds are cleaned out there is evidence of many years of gardening. The house was previously owned by a couple that built it in 1959 and they had lived there ever since. The husband died a few years ago and the wife passed last year just before we purchased the house. I believe that a good number of those years there was a garden here.

Bed behind the garage

Christa removing dozens of rocks bricks and debris form the old beds.
We will be adding two 8X12 beds behind these
