Pears

And the canning begins. We got pears from the Q-mart (6 for $1) so the canning started early. We got 3 quarts and 7 pints form $6 of pears.

The madness begins

We have been gone for 8 days and of coarse everything went crazy while we were gone.

We had to replace the red plastic in this bed because it disintegrated and the weeds just took over. We also lost a number of pepper plants to the heat.

The Three sisters in this bed are coming along nicely much better than last year. The transplanted mystery squash is taking over and will need to be trimmed back so it does not overtake the entire bed.

The tomatoes in this bed exploded while we were gone. It was imposable to replace the plastic in this bed without removing the cages and that would have destroyed the plants. The weeds are enjoying this error and are winning the battle. Between the heat and weeds we lost a number of our hot pepper plants.

The beets are doing much better this year but most of the brassicas are bolting from the heat.
